To study the Bible properly one must have a proper method of Study. Sunday School will help hone your skills on how to study and will enrich your life on what you have learned.
Adult Sunday School meets from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM. Our current Curriculum is the Wesley Adult Bible Studies. The studies are 13 weeks in length and will include the study of a particular book of the Bible or subject matters such as "Holy Living", "Life Changing Experiences", and "Jesus Lives".
This quarter's (March thru May) lessons is titled "Guide us, O thou Great Jehovah".
Our studies in Leviticus, Numbers, an Deuteronomy this quarter represent something of a portrait of how God goes about guiding people in their wanderings through wastelands. The laws and instructions God gives His people at that particular time and in that particular setting are just as relevant in principle to us today. They provide for us in the twenty-first century lessons from a desert of the Bronze Age. So while culture and knowledge differ profoundly from the four-milleninium span between their ancient eastern context and our postmodern western world, the same natural inclinations run through our veins.... it's natural. the laws necessarily differ today, but the need for God's guidance remains at least as much.
This is what William Williams evoked in his great hymn, "GuideMe, O Thou Great Jehovah". Each of us needs the same guidance from God that He provdied to the ancient pilgrim Israelites, wandering through their barren land: "Guide me, o thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but thou art mighty, Hold me with thy powerful hand; Bread of heaven! Feed me till I want no more".
All the way through human history since Adam and Eve, and through the early history of the Israelites, God has been engaging humanity painstakingly providing guidance. But as much today as so long ago, the choice of following God rests with each and every one of us. So let's follow together our great Jehovah this quarter and perhaps learn how we should be guided personally by Him, according to His will. That includes those of us who have been called to guide others towaard following God.
We look forward to you coming and sharing in the Word of God each week. David Kushman will lead us through the discussion each week to try and lead us into a deeper walk with our Savior.
During your studies always ask at least these three questions.
1. Who is talking?
2. Whom is he talking to?
3. And what are the circumstances?
